20 verses on faith and how God answers prayer

Time and again in the Bible we see Jesus telling people how their faith healed them or how if you believe anything is possible. These instances interest me because if there’s one thing that God has impressed upon me time and again, it’s faith. I’ve written about why faith is important, how to grow your faith, how faith is built in the fire and other articles on faith. Here’s a list below, in case you want to take a look at some of them:

I’ve recently compiled a list of verses that remind me how important faith is and that if you ask God for something, He will answer your prayer. I also included a few verses that when I read them, I believe that much more. I now read these daily. I intend to do this until they are ingrained in my mind because I believe if they are, I will be less likely to find myself doubting the promises of God or not believing that God has heard my prayers and will answer them. In case like me you need to do that, here are the verses: (You could add your own or remove some if you like.)

  1. John 14:14 “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
  2. John 15:7 – “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
  3. Matthew 21:22 – “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
  4. Mark 11:24 – “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
  5. Matthew 17:20 – “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
  6. Matthew 9:29 – “According to your faith let it be done to you.”
  7. Mark 9:23 – “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
  8. Matthew 19:26 – “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
  9. Luke 1:37 – “For nothing will be impossible with God.”
  10. Hebrews 11:11 – “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.”
  11. Jeremiah 32:27 “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
  12. Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
  13. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.
  14. Romans 8:28 In all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
  15. Isaiah 43:19 – See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up: Do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
  16. Isaiah 60:1-3 – Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the people, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
  17. Deuteronomy 1:11 May the Lord, the God of your ancestors, increase you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised!
  18. Isaiah 55:3 – Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.
  19. Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
  20. Ephesians 3:20-21 – “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
